Ladder falls from height are still one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities and injuries; accounting for 35 fatalities in 2017/2018 according to HSE annual statistics. With businesses facing record fines for failing to keep workers safe, The Ladder Association have launched a campaign which sets out to ensure that everyone using a ladder is fully trained and competent to do so.
Ladderstore is backing the Get a Grip on Ladder Safety campaign which is the latest initiative from The Ladder Association, who are the home for all the vital guidance and training needed to help ensure work at height is carried out as safe as possible. This new campaign aims to put ladder training at the top of the height safety agenda.
Here at Ladderstore, the safe use of ladders is at the forefront of our agenda too. We provide a wide range of certified working at height training each month both on-site at our training facility in Bolton and on location at our customer’s workplaces. Through our support of this campaign, we are urging all ladder users and those responsible for managing the safe use of ladders to take a fresh approach to their ladder training.
While ladders are a safe, practical versatile solution for low risk and short duration work at height, a complacent, over-confident approach to ladder use can lead to potentially life-changing consequences.
Endorsed by Ladderstore, the Association has created a free Ladder Safety Pack, providing vital information on the recent changes to European Ladder Standard EN131; the most significant in the last 20 years. The pack includes information on how to use and inspect ladders and most importantly the route to obtaining a Ladder Inspectors Card through official Ladder Association training.
