Can I Stand On The Top Of A Platform Step Ladder?

When using a step ladder, you can stand on the very top tread if the ladder you are using has a platform. If your step ladder does not have a platform, for example on a swingback stepladder it is advised you do not stand on the top three treads.

Is The Platform Included In The Tread Count?

When purchasing a step ladder the tread count does include the platform. For example, if you are purchasing an 8 tread step ladder your ladder will have 7 treads and a platform that can be stood on.

How Is The Working Height Of A Platform Step Ladder Calculated

The working height of a step ladder or any ladder for that matter is calculated based on the last available standing height plus one and a half metres. This calculation is approximate and will depend on the users' height.
